Lithiasis and Endourology Clinic
Introduction
The clinic is staffed by highly qualified urologists and nursing staff, and is equipped with the most advanced technology.
It offers on-site ureteral lithiasis and kidney stone treatments; minimally-invasive procedures as well as percutaneous surgery and lithotripsy, and rigid and flexible ureterolithotomy.
Lithiasis is carried out endoscopically via the urinary tract, with no incision. Flexible and semi-rigid instruments are used to reach the kidney stone (renal calculus) which is broken up with either laser, pneumatic or electrohydraulic equipment. This permits return to normal activities within 24 hours.

Extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy is a non-invasive ambulatory-type treatment which requires no hospitalization. Renal and urinary tract calculi are broken up so they may be eliminated in the urine, with no need of surgical intervention. The number of necessary treatment sessions depends on stone hardness and size. In nearly all cases, the patient is able to renew normal activities 48 hours after treatment.
Percutaneous kidney surgery deals with calculi so large that they are not candidates for extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy. Instead, a skin puncture allows entry of the endoscope, and the stone is broken up with laser, pneumatic or ultrasound equipment instead of any incision or invasion of the kidney.
Information
Urinary lithiasis is a common disorder in Mexico, presenting in 1.2 of every 1000 inhabitants – generally as an emergency condition.
